The Loire-Atlantique boasts 68km of coastline with authentic ports - such as Le Croissac and La Turballe where oyster production & tourism supports the local economy. Here you can embark for the islands of Ponant, Houat or Belle-Isle where the local speciality of 'bass in sea salt' or 'bar en croute de sel' is a must!.
Nantes is the capital of the Loire-Atlantique and not without good reason! It is a dynamic centre with Art-Nouveau squares, churches & museums and chic bars and restaurants.
Inland there are parks, gardens, rivers & forests and offer activities from canoeing in the Vallee du Don or playing golf on one of the department's 9 courses.

- Canal Boat Trips - the 'Canal de Nantes', constructed by Napoleon to keep the English at bay, is a popular destination for canal boat trips. Stop off at Blain castle & its art museum.
