where to go - what to see - what to doMontelimar is a delightful market town with a medieval centre overflowing with all sorts of shops selling every product imaginable. One product though stands out more than most - the chewy almond nougat that's been produced here since the 17th century when the almond tree was brought from Asia. There are numerous artisans who delight in telling you of the special secret ingredients involved or you may prefer a guided tour of the more commercial plant of Gerbe d'Or.
Montelimar enjoys a Provencal climate and is an ideal starting point for exploring the countryside to the east with its many medieval villages such as La Begude-deMazenc. The Gorges de L'Ardeche lie tantalisingly to the southwest with those awesome limestone cliffs.
