Bonifacio tourist information
where to go - what to see - what to doBonifacio sits at Corsica's southernmost tip on a limestone outcrop which affords some stunning views of the Mediterranean. The town is split into two distinct areas. The picturesque port is lined with cafes, bars, restaurants and chic boutiques and it is here you can catch a boat to neighbouring Sardinia and the islands of Lavezzi and Cavallo.
In sharp contrast, the Citadel (also known as 'VilleHaute') rises up from the port and was built by the Genoese at the end of the 12th century. Here you'll find the ruins of a Franciscan monastery and the Eglise Ste-Majeure built in the 14th century.
Walkers will be rewarded with fantastic cliff top marked routes and for those who prefer to sit back and relax, Bonifacio's sandy coves to the north of the Bonifacio Sound will surely delight.
