Strasbourg tourist information

where to go - what to see - what to do

Strasbourg is a beautiful, prosperous and cosmopolitan city often termed as "the crossroads of Europe".  Modernity vies with medieval architecture and Germanic culture with French.  It is truly a delight!

A good way to see the city is to hop on a boat which will take you along the canals and waterways of the old town with its many covered bridges and medieval watchtowers.  You'll also pass through the tanners' quarter with its mills and distinct bridges.

The main square in Strasbourg is called Place Gutenberg presided over by the awesome Cathedrale de Notre-Dame.  A pink sandstone exterior gives way to a stunning interior with a high nave and noteworthy stained-glass.  From the top of the cathedral you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views.

There are museums a plenty in Strasbourg.  However, try to make time for a tour of European Parliament and the Council of Europe.  Both fascinating venues you can even sit in on debates when parliament is in session!
